Artist Alex Hoare is based in Winchester. She works out of the Light Factory Studios in Worthy Lane. She works largely in the public domain translating imagery, sound and colour explored in workshops with local communities into artworks to enhance the environments in which they live.

"My work explores our experience of place and space, incorporating light, sound, film projection and, more recently, glass work to create site specific installations which tantalise our senses. Installations are both temporary and permanent and are placed in a variety of contexts from heritage sites to shopping centres. At the heart of my work is the desire to change the manner in which places are experienced and create responsive installations which encourage passers by to reflect on the environments they find themselves in."
